Holiday clean-up: tips for trash and recycling pick-up
Tips for city holiday trash and recycling pick-up.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The presents are unwrapped, the recycling is full, and the tree is bare. What’s next?

The city of Wilmington has some tips for holiday trash and recycling pick-up.

Trash

The city normally charges to collect trash that doesn’t fit in the car, but for the holiday, customers will not be charged for excess trash from December 26 - January 2. After that, customers will need to buy stickers for extra trash that doesn’t fit in the car. A minimum of 12 stickers can be purchased by calling 910-341-7875.

Recycling

Extra recycling that won’t fit in the cart will also be picked up, free of charge. Most holiday debris, like cardboard, can be put in the cart. Just make sure it’s broken down and flat first. Foil wrapping paper is no recyclable, but other wrapping paper is. Click here to view the city’s recycling calendar for 2019.
