WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Wilmington’s GORUCK team marched about 10 miles Saturday in honor of those killed in the Pearl Harbor attacks.

Rucking is running or walking long distances with a weighted backpack. It’s a fast growing fitness and community trend inspired by Army Special Forces.

On Friday Dec. 7 the GORUCK team walked about 20 miles around Wilmington and continued the march the next day. GORUCK cadre, Daniel Skidmore, has a special connection to rucking after serving in the air force for nine years.

“It’s important for me to be a part of this because I get to share some of my experience from special operations with civilians and other military and get out for some good fitness," Skidmore says.

The team isn’t exclusive to only veterans or current military but open to anyone to join.
