WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Good Friday to you! We hope you find it easy to smile today. The weather should help! Expect sun to promote temperatures to the 50s for the afternoon. Soak it in while it lasts! No doubt you've heard our alerts about a wet, wintry, and windy storm system that's likely to slog across the Carolinas this weekend and early next week. And so the forecast remains:

1. HEAVY RAIN... Between Saturday and Tuesday, one to three and locally four inches of drenching, soaking rain is likely. Please clean storm drains and exercise caution amid slick and / or ponded roadways.

2. ICE AND SNOW... Winter precipitation may mix with the rain across the Lower Cape Fear Region but significant ice and snow is more probable north and west of Lumberton and Fayetteville. Please monitor the forecast in case of changes and use extreme caution if you need to travel northwestward.

3. WINDS AND TIDES... Onshore winds will regularly gust in the 20s and 30s mph Saturday into Sunday. Winds will shift offshore but still at stout speeds Monday and Tuesday. Please secure loose items, including Christmas inflatables, and be vigilant for minor to moderate high tidal flooding.
