Highway 6: Fresh, local flare at the Carolina Beach Farmers Market

Carolina Beach, NC (WECT) - Every Saturday from May 26 to Sept. 29, it’s hard not to notice the white tents lined up along Carolina Beach Lake Park.

Vendors from across the region come out to the Carolina Beach Farmers Market to interact with locals and visitors to Carolina Beach.

These venders offer fresh fruits and veggies, meats, wines, homemade items and crafts, accessories, decorations and so much more. Customers get to receive fresh and flavorful food from the area when shopping at the farmers market.

By shopping at the farmers market, you’re cutting out the middle man so local farmers and artisans get more of their hard-earned cash, making the local economy prosper. And customers say it makes it taste even better knowing where your food came from and that you’re supporting the local community and economy.

“I’ve been to farmers markets all over the east coast, and a lot of them are pretty much the same. But this one is a little unique because of the local flavor. It’s not just the food. It’s also supporting people who are trying to make a living,” said Chuck Thomas, visitor to the Carolina Beach Farmers Market.

Venders are not only there to sell their product. They are making personal connections and bonds with shoppers, local farmers and the Pleasure Island community.

With such an inviting environment, it’s a great outing for families.

So if you’re looking for a fun activity to do from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday during the summer months, head out to Carolina Beach Lake Park and check out your local farmers market.
