WPD asking for public’s help in recent series of increased Shotspotter alerts

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Over the past four days officers have responded to 20 Shotspotter alerts from the Creekwood community, and Castle and Meares Streets in Wilmington.

According to a spokesperson with the Wilmington Police Department, each Shotspotter alert has had multiple rounds.

No injuries have been reported from any of the alerts however officers say the trend is alarming and they hope to stop the series of shootings “before anyone is seriously injured.”

Officers believe some of the incidents are related.
